AbstractThe article presents the results of a theoretical study of the interaction between psychological factors and self-harming behavior in adolescents. The relevance of the topic is determined by growing attention to adolescent forms of self-aggression, their association with school stressors, bullying, digital reinforcement of risk, and insufficient coordination among participants in the educational environment in the early recognition of signs of psychological distress. Despite active research on non-suicidal self-injurious behavior, including works of Ye. V. Makushkin, A. V. Abramov, Ye. Yu. Shkityr, and many researchers abroad, the structure of the relationships between a disturbed self-attitude, emotional-cognitive regulation, school-social pressure, and adolescents’ digital practices remains insufficiently clarified. The research goal is to develop a theoretical model explaining mutual reinforcement of psychological factors and self-harming behavior in adolescents. The hypothesis is that self-harming behavior is not formed under the influence of a single factor, but as a result of the combination of self-blame, reduced self-acceptance, difficulties in emotional regulation, decision-making deficits, bullying, weakened contact with significant adults, and involvement in destructive digital practices. The methodological basis of the study included a systemic approach, theoretical generalization, comparative analysis, systematization of research data, and conceptual modeling. The scientific novelty of the study lies in presenting adolescent self-harming behavior as a recurrent risk circuit in which a short-term reduction in psycho-emotional tension after an episode consolidates a dysfunctional response pattern and increases the likelihood of repeated self-harm. The theoretical significance is lies in clarifying the structure of risk factors in adolescence and describing their mutual reinforcement within the educational environment. The practical significance is determined by the possibility of applying the model for early school-based identification of combinations of behavioral, emotional, interpersonal, and digital signs of psychological distress. It was established that prevention is most strongly supported not by a single symptom, but by stable combinations of risk factors: self-blame, reduced self-acceptance, difficulties in emotional regulation, decision-making deficits, bullying, weakened contact with significant adults, and involvement in destructive digital practices. The article concludes that it is necessary to move from episodic responses to an already committed act of self-harm to systematic support for adolescents involving teachers, school psychologists, families, and external specialists. Further research is associated with empirical testing of the model in adolescent samples and the development of a diagnostic protocol for educational institutions.
